Clear, Reliable Energy Performance Certificates

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are valid for 10 years. EPCs will also state what the energy efficiency rating could be if improvements are made, and highlight cost-effective ways to achieve a better rating. Even if you rent your home, improvements noted on the certificate might save you valuable pennies. All of our energy assessors are fully qualified in domestic and non-domestic energy surveys.

If you’re selling or renting out a domestic property or commercial building, you must get an approved Domestic Energy Assessor to produce the EPC. The energy performance certificate needs to be available to potential buyers as soon as you start to market your property for sale or rent.

If you already own your home, the process of getting an EPC produced can help you identify ways to improve its energy efficiency.

DEC Assessments for Public Buildings & Compliance.

Display Energy Certificates can be produced within 24 hours of a site visit and must be accompanied by an advisory report containing recommendations for improvement of the energy performance of the building.

  • The advisory report that accompanies the certificate is valid for seven years.
  • The threshold for the requirement of a Display Energy Certificate in public buildings is a total useful floor area over 500m².
  • Since 2013, all certificates need to be on display in your foyer or reception area.

Public buildings requiring a DEC are those that are occupied in whole or part by public authorities and by institutions providing public services to a large number of persons and therefore frequently visited by those persons.

Retrofit PAS 2035 Route

ECO4 is the most recent version of the ECO scheme. It targets lower-income households and forms part of a Government strategy to ensure households at risk of fuel poverty are provided with energy efficiency measures.

We offer advice and guidance on ECO4 and, because the scheme follows the PAS 2035 route, projects will often require retrofit assessment, retrofit design and retrofit coordination services — all of which we provide.

The ECO4 scheme is the latest phase of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and was established by the Government to support the transition towards more energy-efficient, lower-carbon homes. Worth £4 billion, the scheme provides grants to deliver energy efficiency and heating improvements to homes across Great Britain.

Grants can contribute towards measures such as new heating systems, loft insulation, floor insulation and wall insulation.

Helping Landlords Meet Energy Efficiency Regulations

Since April 2018, legislation has made it unlawful to let new residential tenancies with an EPC rating lower than E. From April 2020, these regulations expanded to include all privately rented residential properties, and from April 2023 the requirements were extended to cover all existing commercial leases.

The legislation aims to ensure tenants have access to warmer, more energy-efficient properties while supporting improvements to the UK’s building stock. If a property does not meet the required minimum standard, landlords may be unable to legally let or market the property, and rent reviews could also be affected. Penalties for non-compliance in the domestic sector can reach up to £5,000.

Our qualified and accredited energy assessors can assess the energy efficiency of individual properties or entire housing portfolios and produce compliant EPCs. We provide clear advice and practical options to help landlords and property owners meet the latest energy efficiency regulations with confidence.
